MoU with Aksa Group Canada

 AKSA Group, seasoned multibillion International large-scale Infrastructure Developers based in Canada have Friday December 22,2023 signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Busitema University to design, construct and finance the Construction of a Teaching Hospital at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Mbale and an Agro Science Park.

AKSA Group specializes in the development of infrastructure projects in developing and emerging markets around the world.

Mr. Nurdin Samji, the Group’s Chairman and Chief Executive officer, during the press conference held at Serena Hotel in Kampala revealed that the company had already offset a total of US$ 704million to inject in the University’s expansion plan in Mbale City and Soroti.

“We’ve allocated US$ 304m for construction of a Teaching Medical Hospital in Mbale and US$ 400m for Agro and Science Industrial Park in Soroti. Total is US$704m,” revealed Mr.Nurdin

The University’s Chancellor Prof. Vinand Nantulya, who doubles as senior presidential Advisor on vaccines, thanked AKSA Group for providing the funds and Mbale Municipal Council for providing 50 acres of free land where the Hospital is to be constructed.

“We thank Mbale Municipal leadership for donating to us the land. This development, when done, will provide jobs and learning opportunities to host Communities, but also, it will reduce on Medical tourism Uganda is facing by sending its citizens abroad, since we shall now have these services in Uganda” he said.

Whereas Prof.Paul Waako signed on behalf of Busitema Univ., Mr.Nurdin signed for AKSA.

On behalf of Seyani Brothers, the official construction partners for the project, Mr.Rupham Bhatia, Group’s Finance director assured Ugandans of a speedy construction process and state-of-the-art infrastructure when finished.

“We’ve a lot of mega constructions we’re currently doing here in Uganda and in the neighboring countries, which is a sign of trust for our unmatched services,” he said.

Prof Pakoyo Kamba- Deputy Vice Chancellor, Paddy Namuremire-Chief Planner, Martha Apolot- Legal Chief and  Dr Charles Muweesi-Acting Director and Lecturer (BU), Aisha Alibhai-(Business consultant for AKSA and Assistant Editor of Hansard at Parliament of Uganda), Hon.Dr. Ajedra Gabriel Aridru (AKSA Consultant for Africa), Arzina Kurji (Resident National Council for Aga Khan), Kurban Karim (AKSA Group Canada) and Najjuna Maria (Dero Capital) among others.
